Course Structure

Module 1 Basics

  • We learn Hiragana and Katakana, the first two Japanese syllabaries, how to introduce ourselves, basic grammar such as conjugations, grammatical particles and classifiers, and basic vocabulary related to everyday life. At the end of the module we mention kanji learning methods.

  • Textbooks, workbooks, studying sheets; additional studying materials; video lectures according to each group’s needs

    Access to the Sonzai Edu community

  • Three months with: one 2-hour live class per week (duration is adapted according to National Holidays)

Module 2 Beginner

  • We begin learning more advanced grammar and different methods of addressing people according to their social status. We will use a wider range of vocabulary as well as begin our kanji study.

  • The included materials are:

    • text books

    • workbooks

    • kanji sheets

    • vocabulary sheets

    • custom dictionary

    • translations

    • video lectures

  • Three months with: one 2-hour live class per week (duration is adapted according to National Holidays)

Module 3 Advanced

  • We refine our grammar study, expand vocabulary and focus on mastering JLPT N5 kanji.

  • The materials are:

    • text books

    • workbooks

    • kanji sheets

    • vocabulary sheets

    • custom dictionary

    • translations

    • video lectures

  • Three months with: one 2-hour live class per week (duration is adapted according to National Holidays)

Module 4 JLPT N5 Preparation

  • We prepare for JLPT N5 and revise all subjects we have covered throughout all previous modules.

  • The materials are:

    • JLPT N5 text books

      JLPT N5 workbooks

    • kanji sheets

    • vocabulary sheets

    • custom dictionary

    • translations

    • video lectures (on demand)

  • Three months with: one 2-hour live class per week (duration is adapted according to National Holidays)

Course structure

  • Live Classes

    We will have a weekly 2 hour online class. It takes place on Google Meet, where you will be taught by one of Sonzai Edu’s teachers.

  • Homework

    At home workload will be reasonable to assure a steady learning curve. According to demand, additional video lectures will be sent to support students’ studying.

    Homework will be a blend of exercises and translations.

  • Additional support

    Our team is available to support students’ learning process even outside of contact hours. You will have access to the Sonzai Edu community where we can answer your questions.
